Onward and Upward
We're getting ready to leave for Bethlehem today with the Saa'ds. Last night we said "see you later" to so many new friends. There are no goodbyes in the body of Christ, so we received and gave lots of hugs and holy kisses! We had a wonderful going away meal after service which lasted to almost 1 AM. It was a five-course meal followed by strong, strong coffee (which I had to decline for sleeping purposes). It was a wonderful occasion. The people here are very gracious hosts and have made us feel very welcome. Time is no barrier and no one seems to be in a hurry to move on to the next event in their lives. They will savor as much time with you as you desire and church services go for several hours and no one looks at their watch while you preach!. I like that. We will leave for Atlanta tomorrow night at 11:30 Israel time. We have a long layover in Atlanta and have a room reserved for the day to rest and shower before an evening flight to Albq. Then we will go the rough the process of overcoming jet lag again. Ugh! "May God be magnified" (Psm. 70:4).
One special prayer request to add a little intrigue to our trip. About 2000 members of the political organization, Fatah, are meeting in Bethlehem today and tomorrow. They have come from all over the Middle East. They are somewhat moderate compared to Hezbollan and Hamas, but are still hostile to Israel. Bethlehem is located in the West Bank, under the control of the Palestinian Authority. We do not expect any problems but sometimes they are unpredictable. They are moderate "crazies." Is that an oxymoron? Please pray for our safety. We love you more than words can express. See you soon.
Love in Christ,
Pastor Don and Dorothy
