Meet Our Missionaries

David and Marsha Van Wagenen
Christian Missionary Fellowship, Northeast Africa

David and Marsha have been associated with Christian Missionary Fellowship for 24 years serving in Kenya, Ethiopia and Northeast Africa. They are presently in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia working to develop cell church plants, discipleship and leadership training. HCC has supported this lovely couple for many years. Marsha visited us during the 2006 Faith Promise Conference.

David is a CMF team leader in developing church planting work. He will soon be transferring this role to his teammate Adrian Fehl and he will then assume the team-leader role for the new urban poor team. They are taking a holistic strategy, using an approach called Community Health Evangelism (CHE). This helps communities and individuals improve their own living conditions, while at the same time introducing the truth of the Gospel. David has also been teaching cell church principals and strategy at a local theological college. David is also getting enough speaking/preaching invitations to keep him on his toes.

Marsha has been teaching English as Second Language (ESL) and Bible. She has taught Bible study for English learners, and hosted and sometimes taught a group of neighborhood children. The English learner’s Bible has had two Chinese young women, A Korean young man, and five to six Ethiopians. Marsha also teaches English to both staff and students at Women at Risk. A wonderfully successful ministry that helps women out of prostitution into a life in Christ.
